Our Mission and Vision

ASIAPATH

Across Asia, transgender and gender diverse people similarly face serious stigma, discrimination, hate crimes, and lack of culturally competent health care much alike the rest of the world. With regional differences in health rights, social and legal environments, Asia requires to define its own aspiration and shared purposes to advance health for transgender and gender diverse people. ASIAPATH is thus established to explore and document best practices leading to health-for-all for Asia’s transgender and gender diverse people, taking into consideration unique local barriers and policies across the continent with 4.6 billion people and 51 governments.

Asia must forge regional unity and speak with a louder, more united voice. ASIAPATH pledges to achieve the rigor and authority in healthcare for transgender and gender diverse people through support, organization and advocacy for comprehensive healthcare. We always work with our mission in mind, focusing on strategies and activities that achieve the best results.

ASIAPATH is a nonprofit organization and has a Board of Directors, elected by its members. The board solidifies by laws, organizes committees, and conducts business under ASIAPATH’s umbrella.

Our Story

  • The Current Situation

    Across Asia, transgender and gender diverse people similarly face serious stigma, discrimination, hate crimes, and lack of culturally competent health care much alike the rest of the world.

  • Our Difficulties

    While the WPATH established the knowledge in leading justice and health rights for transgenders, standard western practices were difficult to implement in Asia, considering its 4.6 billion people and 51 governments. We find ourselves caught in growing disparities within regional practices.

  • The Formation of ASIAPATH

    ASIAPATH is thus established, drawing from the deep experience of WPATH, to address unique local barriers and policies across the continent. We pledge ourselves to achieve WPATH’s rigor and authority in trans care through support, organization and advocacy for comprehensive healthcare.
